harper's bazaar brides spring issue

it is so so so lovely to be featured again in the spring issue of bazaar brides! it is such a romantic and elegant magazine ... oh and it also features some of my advice again! my advice this time is "be careful of short term trends, i recommend a simple, elegant, well-crafted cake that your future self will still adore"... hmm!

here is a super pretty 3 tier version of my david austin cake... sigh! so pretty... i wonder what other designs of mine would suit a 3 tier version..??!!!

everyone knows how much i love all things japanese, so i was so happy when i was asked by japanese luxury wedding magazine if they could feature some of my cakes- cool!! how cute is it??!

i think this little heart cookie pack is just the sweetest wedding favour, i just love them- i made them the other day in lavender, lemon and soft lavender and they were also super adorable..!!

i also love the way cake pops look packaged- they are just so sweet and are another cute favour idea!

here are SO many totally adore-a-pin-able (umm yes i just made up that word... ) pics from the prettiest photo shoot i have ever worked on... AGES ago i worked with nathalie from imprintables, stylist megan morton and photographer jason busch on little bea's baptism, the table was based on nathalies sweet as honey invitation and i made my favourite sweets to suit the adorable colour scheme- i think my favourite is still the milk and honey bottles- so pretty and so delicious! *sigh*

wandin valley open day

a few weeks ago i attended the wandin hunter valley open day along with my friends lily and bramwell and wandins other preferred suppliers. wandin estate is one of my most favourite venues in the hunter valley- the space is fantastic, the food + wine is great and the staff are super lovely. there was lots of cake for everyone and my table was made extra pretty with props by lily and bramwell! SUPER MEGA EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!!!!

this is bruce! he is a bit of a legend around newcastle, he has been running antique sounds, a record and antique shop at 175 king st for 16 years.... he is happy because he is retiring and selling his shop...!!!!

i am SUPER-MEGA-OVER-THE-MOON excited that it is ours!!!!!!

there is a bit of work to do first but this will be my adorable little cake shop soon!!! it is the perfect little size in a really great part of the city- i am so so so so so excited!!

this is my absolute dream come true and i am so grateful for my amazingly supportive tom and my amazing family who have helped me so much since i first started my business xx

instagram and opsm

umm just what i need another distraction... or another something to do as soon as i am waiting somewhere for more than 10 seconds... i am finally on instagram! please follow me @hellonaomicakes!

my mobile camera is pretty limiting- it would be nice to be able to use my cannon- but practical-ness wins and it is nice being able to document the cute details behind the scenes of running my business... like yesterday!! ...

yesterday i catered a stunning high tea for an opsm pr summer launch party, styled by megan morton. i spent all week preparing- i made a gazillion cakes, sweets, gourmet sandwiches, savoury tarts- enough to fill 40 of these cute cake stands- this was a new, massive challenge for me and somehow it all worked out- the whole party and the food looked so, so amazing! but alll that work and i didnt have one spare second to get any photos!! luckily i took ONE on instagram *phew!!* at least i have something to show for it and something to blog about! and luckily i was also able to see heaps of other pics from the party tagged with #opsmsun
